Starting a #ge2019data thread and hashtag to share some resources, starting with recently-updated constituency megafile with data from @commonslibrary @mySociety and some additional stuff from me (e.g. distance to Westminster, pic urls, colour codes etc): github.com/alasdairrae/wp…
@commonslibrary @mySociety Ross, Skye and Lochaber is the largest (and the loveliest I reckon) UK constituency (12,606 sq km/4,867 sq mi)
Islington North is the smallest (7.38 sq km/2.85 sq mi)
...and many more exciting facts to follow in this thread at my leisure
@commonslibrary @mySociety smallest constituency by population: Na h-Eileanan an Iar (electorate in 2017 - 21,000, population about 27,000)
largest by population: West Ham (electorate in 2017 - 92,000, population about 185,000)
Knowsley is the reddest, Christchurch I believe is the bluest
I believe Dundee East is the yellowest
and with that I am heading for a train to Durham (will continue thread some other time)
closest three-way marginal?
Lanark and Hamilton East
SNP 32.58%
CON 32.05%
LAB 31.87%
side-note:
The David Party were, at the end of the last parliamentary session, in quite a strong position, although having said that The John Party were too
my very small 'innovations' for this #ge2019data thread - 1. making sure Northern Ireland's very big loughs are there (it's just not right otherwise), and 2. use of the 'staunchmap' to indicate depth of 'redness', 'blueness' etc in each constituency
