Just finished building the #PAXUnplugged demo kit for #oathboardgame . This seemed like as good a time as any to rip back my player boards and look at the iteration of the past couple months.
At some point I want to write a long piece about iteration generally, but I'm a little short on time today so I thought I'd just share this picture a couple thoughts.
First, the boards obviously become simpler over time. Oath once had 8 actions, now it has 5.
Second, though it certainly feels like a huge amount has changed in the game over the past couple of months, there's a lot of general stability.
I feel like so much of design is about being open to constant disruption without losing focus on the central arguments of the project. It's a little like picking a point to focus on while you are spinning on ice skates.
As you might guess from that image, Oath has certainly seen it's fair share of disruption. It's a long way from the draft I showed @d20plusmodifier back in August and thankfully much easier to teach!
