Senate can override any Chief Justice decision (during impeachment trial) with a simple majority. They don't have to hear evidence or a single witness. They might be able to just vote to acquit in the first five minutes and skip the whole trial part.

I don't see Pelosi being blindsided by GOP cravenness, and most of my suggestions for possible alternate strategies have been shot down. So what gives?

Are they simply barrelling towards a brick wall, with nothing more than the glimmer of hope that they'll build up enough momentum to smash through? Because that's how you get vaporized.

Impeaching Trump based on the evidence was the right thing to do, in my opinion, regardless of outcome.

But I can't help but wonder if the Dems have a strategy behind all of this, or if it's just, you know, "let's do the right thing because it's the right thing, and hope we live through it."
