#NirbhayaCase hearing commences in the #SupremeCourt. Akshay's lawyer AP Singh gets 30 min to argue the review petition.

Judges ask Singh not to argue on facts already settled by the #SupremeCourt in its previous judgment.
Singh starts by blaming media for putting undue pressure on courts to convict his client.

Akshay's lawyer claims Nirbhaya's friend, who was the prosecution's star witness, is a tainted witness. He took bribe and even a documentary series recorded it. Singh adds star witness can't be relied.

Singh also cites an excerpt from former Tihar Jail officer Sunil Gupta's book in which Gupta indicted that #NirbhayaCase accused Ram Singh might have been murdered in Tihar.

Akshay's lawyer Singh says all these are new facts, warranting review of 2017 judgment.

SC observes: "We can't go by views of authors. We can't go into all this now. This will set a dangerous trend if people start writing books after the trial is over and talk about such things. There will be no end if we start entertaining all these arguments now.

Singh claims Akshay has been condemned to death only because he is poor; invokes 'Live and let live' and then talks abourt Delhi's air and water quality. Lawyers are in splits with this argument while judges look amused.

SG Tushar Mehta appears for #DelhiPolice, says convict Akshay is a monster and it was a crime where humanity cried. It is a fit case to hand out death penalty. This was a rarest of rare case, the law officer tells #SupremeCourt in the #NirbhayaCase.
