STATE AFFAIRS 18 JANUARY 2020
As the call for safety intensified, the marauders tightened their grips on their automatic weapons, invading communities, leaving blood and sorrow behind. The killers in the month of June 2019 were as rampaging as in the months before.
Within an eight day period from June 16, they operated in communities, countering the defenses of the state.
Concerned by the unending violence, President Buhari in his June 12 speech promised to address the problem saying “when we actively reduce inequality through investments
in social and hard infrastructure, insecurity reduces”.
Buhari can only remind victims of violence of the classical lines of W.B Yeats in the Second Coming: “The Falcon cannot hear the falconer, things fall apart, the center cannot hold. Mere anarchy is loosened upon the world.”
With the falling apart of things, the spate of insecurity in Nigeria is a present danger.
Hello,
The Executive organ of the Federal Government declares Operation Amotekun illegal?
Is Amotekun the rebirth of Yoruba Nationalism?
Note:
The State cannot continue to neglect the viability of an open society guided by an educated citizenry. It means a fundamental change in the basic structure of society through constitutional means.
