The diversity of thoughts on economies, gender parity & the global energy landscape made Day 3 of #OandoAtWEF remarkable.

On ways to save the planet, @EU_Commission First Vice-President @TimmermansEU for the #EUGreenDeal sat on the “Striking a Green New Deal” panel stating...

...“This is one of the issues where nobody doubts that we have to act on a continental scale if we really want to make a difference. So we took a holistic approach & we said that if we want to be climate neutral by 2050, what does that mean for 2030, 2040 & 5 years after that?

It’s not only about energy or oil & gas but the whole economy, this is because we are also in the middle of an industrial revolution that coincides with the climate crisis. One thing is clear, every industrial revolution has the potential to be extremely disruptive & unfair...

...so if you take your role as government seriously you have to organise it properly along side stakeholders in a way that leads to a redistribution that leaves no one behind and I think that is the core element of the #GreenDeal. It's clear, without the Gen-Z we won’t be here.”

Speaking directly to "Getting to 50-50 Gender Parity", @phumzileunwomen, Executive Director of @UN_Women said; "The no of women who are in leadership in the private sector is not adequate... we have to keep fighting, parity is parity. If it's not parity, it's not the real thing.”

Finland's @FinGovernment Prime Minister, ⁦@MarinSanna⁩, also said; "We have too few fathers spending more time with their children when they are still young. We want equality in the parental leave system also. My husband & I split our parental leave system in half”.

Finland was also applauded when ⁦@MarinSanna⁩ highlighted her government’s efforts toward gender parity;  "We have so many young women in power, we actually have a 5 party coalition government & each party has women in charge. 4 of us are under 35years & one of us is over 50.

...So, we do have different generations in government and of course it looks different than what we are used to. I hope that in the future it doesn't get as much attention because it should also be seen as normal."
