Little tidbit I sometimes share with pro-life/no-choicers who thump their bibles & say that the Word of God says abortion is wrong. The "Word of God" has an entire chapter of Scripture featuring God giving Moses a recipe for an abortifacient. Numbers 5:11-31 [thread]
God provides this as a solution for a husband who suspects his wife has committed adultery. The priest makes the woman drink a concoction " that brings a curse and causes bitter suffering, it will enter her, her abdomen will swell and her womb will miscarry." Num. 5:11-31 [2]
So there ya have it. Num. 5:11-31. The Lord gives Moses a prescription for a chemically-induced abortion.
Betcha don't see many sermons on that.
And this is not a rogue translation. Both the NIV & NRSV have this as a deliberately induced miscarriage, prescripted by God. [3]
Biblical things are not as clear cut as some wanna believe & it's past time to be more honest about that. Especially if you're gonna gleefully try to take away a woman's right to choose & force an entire population, regardless of belief, to submit to what YOU say God says. [end]
