The Commission today held an internal stakeholder meeting to discuss the Draft Model Law on Access to Information for the counties #AccessToInfoKE
Article 35 of the Constitution guarantees the right of every person to access information held by the state or any person required to protect a fundamental right or freedom.
Parliament in September 2016 passed the Access to Information law to make it easier for all Kenyan citizens to (get, receive and reach) information from government and private institutions.
Once finalised, the Model Law on Access to Information will guide county governments in enacting their own access to information law.
The Commission in October 2019, commenced the drafting of a model law on Access to Information for the Counties with the support of GIZ Good Governance Programme. The activity is being undertaken by a consultant, Mr. Gad Awuonda.
