The Commission Engagements with the Portuguese Ombudsman’s Office and Supreme Administrative Court On the second day of the study visit by the Commission to Portugal, the delegation led by Vice Chairperson and Commissioner for Access to Information, Ms. Dorothy Jemator held a productive engagement with a team from the Portuguese Ombudsman’s Office (Provedor da Justiça).

We Will Deliver Together: Third Commissioners Assure Staff.

The Third Cohort Commissioners have committed to working together with the staff in executing the Commission’s mandate of upholding administrative justice and access to information, ensuring efficient services.

This commitment was made during an end-of-year staff meeting held on Friday, December 20, 2024, which was also their first meeting with the Commission staff following their oath of office on Monday, December 9, 2024.

The Commission’s Management Team on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, began a two-day workshop on mainstreaming Sustainable Development Goal 16 into strategic planning, reporting, and management conducted by representatives from @DCAF_Geneva at the Dust Princess Hotel in Nairobi.





The workshop aimed at contributing to the effective operationalisation of the Commission’s security sector oversight mandate and the better articulation and integration of the Commission’s contribution to the achievement of SDG 16 of a peaceful, just, and inclusive society.

The Commission on Monday, April 17, 2023, began engagements with counties under the Financing Locally Led Climate Action Program (FLLoCA) implemented with the support of the National Treasury. To this end, the Commission is training county officers, including those from the Climate Change Units, and drawn from 18 counties in Wote, Makueni, and Embu towns.

The Commission on Friday, April 14, 2023, hosted the members of the Sectoral Committee on Justice, Legal Affairs, and Cohesion Committee of the @MeruAssembly chaired by Hon. Gacheri Muthuru. @MeruAssembly The Committee visited the Commission for a consultative meeting on the ongoing clashes in the Meru and Tharaka- Nithi counties' border which has so far led to the loss of lives, human rights violations, and destruction of property.

Commission Releases Systemic Investigation Report on the Plight of Kenyan Immigrant Domestic Workers in Saudi Arabia The Commission has recommended that the Office of the President initiate a multi-agency working platform in form of an Electronic Single Window Integrated system for all stakeholders to ensure digitalisation of the recruitment process.

Employment Secured Four Years Later Following Ombudsman Intervention

It was great to meet and work with your team.” These were the words of Rama Mwazondo in an appreciation letter to the Commission.

The Commission today (Monday, November 29, 2021) held a meeting with the South African Military Ombudsman, Lt. Gen (Ret) Vusumuzi Masondo at the Sarova Panafric Hotel to discuss and benchmark on best practices on the effective management of complaints within the defence sector. At the meeting, the South African Military Ombudsman delegation explained its mandate, establishment, powers and methods used in the execution of its mandate under the Military Ombud Act, No. 4 of 2012.

Court Judgment Delivered After Five Year- Wait

The family of a deceased Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK) employee finally received benefits due to them after a 23 year–wait in a case of inordinate delay by the PCK to submit the necessary forms to the Telposta Pensions Scheme (TPS) to facilitate processing of the benefits.

Diploma Certificate Issued Following the Intervention of the Commission

A former student of the University of Eldoret (UoE) can finally apply for jobs following the release of his Diploma certificate following the intervention of the Commission. According to Alfred Baraza, he registered for a Diploma in Public Management at the UoE, Elgon View College, and graduated in 2017.

Dumping Site Closed Following Ombudsman Intervention
Residents of Nyamaharaga area in Isebania can finally enjoy fresh air and a clean environment following the closing down of a dumping site, thanks to the intervention of the Ombudsman. According to Vincent Marwa, a resident of Nyamaharaga Sub- Location, Migori County, a dumping site had been established in an initial temporary garbage holding ground in a residential area within the location thereby creating hazardous waste and polluting the environment.

Land Allocation Dispute Resolved Twenty-Four Years Later
A twenty-four-year land allocation dispute was finally resolved following the intervention of the Commission in a complaint of inordinate delay. According to Nancy Bunei, she was allotted Plot No. 718 of approximately 2.3 hectares at Ndemi Settlement Scheme in Nyandarua on 25th January 1995 and that after fulfilling the conditions of the offer letter, she began pursuing for the issuance of her tittle document.

Media Critical in Fostering National Development 

The Commission has commended the role the media plays in promoting development by providing information to citizens to help in informed decision making. Speaking at an event organised by the @MediaCouncilK in collaboration with other stakeholders to commemorate this year's World Press Freedom Day, Commissioner in Charge of ATI Ms Lucy Ndung’u, said that responsible journalism is useful in countering misinformation.
