What a week. It brought me from one side of the country to the other to report the deaths of Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter, and seven others. I'm leaving LA more humbled than I could have imagined but his legacy lives on and so too should everyone's. #MambaLives

Gianna Bryant was the second out of four Bryant daughters. She was a growing basketball star in her own right and had dreams of playing in the WNBA. When this crash happened she was on her way to a basketball game. She was 13.

John Altobelli, or "Coach Alto" as he was known, was the head college baseball coach at Orange Coast College. Altobelli was gearing up to start his 28th season with the Pirates. He was 56.

Alyssa Altobelli (far right) was one of Gianna's teammates. Friends say she was a fierce point guard on the basketball court and a loyal friend who was determined to attend the University of Oregon in a few years. She was 14.

Keri Altobelli (far left) was on the way to support her daughter Alyssa at her upcoming basketball game alongside her husband. They were all killed in Sunday's crash. She was 46.

Payton Chester (right) was someone who could always make people feel at ease. She was one of Gianna and Alyssa's teammates also on the way to a basketball game when this crash happened. She was 13

Sarah Chester (left) was Payton's mother. A former principal says at PTA meetings she made a game out of getting people to smile during presentations and "she was very good at it." She was 45.

Ara Zobayan was the pilot killed in this helicopter crash. He was described as a mild-mannered guy and as "affable and exacting." He frequently flew celebrities in the LA area. He was 50.

Christina Mauser was getting ready to celebrate her daughter's fourth birthday. She was an assistant girls basketball coach and leaves behind a husband, daughter, and son. Her brother said, "every ounce of my being is destroyed." She was 38.
