/1 Travis Patron and his fascist Canadian Nationalist Party are no longer pretending they aren’t Nazis, it seems.
This video was recently published to their social media channels:
2/ Good eye, Gordon. You’re right for once.
3/ Whittaker was a Winnipeg-based fascist and former KKK member who started the 1933 version of the Canadian Nationalist Party.
There’s an exceptional write up on him here, when antifascists faced off with Whittaker and 100 other fascists: stopracism.ca/content/battle…
4/ The views of CNP (1933) are well documented.

5/ In 1934, the 1933-CNP merged with Quebec fascist Adrien Arcand’s Christian National Socialist Party.
In 1938 it merged with various Swastika Clubs to create the National Unity Party.
This was their flag:
6/ The history of Whittaker and the 1933-era CNP is much more documented than this, but what’s important is that there are open fascists that have formed an official party, ran federal candidates, and are eligible for tax benefits as a party.
There is no more pretense.
7/ In September we, along with Kurt Phillips, published the membership list on @ARCCollective.
We did this as it’s important for people to know there are fascists in their communities.

8/ Since then, Patron has been charged for the assault of two women in Regina:

9/ And has announced his plan to sue the city of Saskatoon for refusing him a platform.
10/ Patron knows all this. He’s lied for years that he isn’t antisemitic and is “just a nationalist”.
11/ Now that he’s gained official party status, there’s no more need to hide.
12/ We call on all levels of government and @ElectionsCan_E to enact legislation preventing the eligibility of parties that are inherently contradictory to our democracy.
13/ If you’re interested in learning more about the 1933-era CNP, Whittaker, and the Battle of Old Market Square (and Winnipeg’s antifascist history), The Paper Nazis, a documentary by Andrew Wall is an excellent resource:
