.@ORDOJ has made the right choice dropping the request to #SCOTUS to consider the sentences of #Oregon's Lydell & Laycelle White when reviewing the now-dismissed #Malvo case. Pursuing the matter could have put at risk rights and liberties of children across the country. #orpol

The Oregon Supreme Court has recognized that the Whites' extremely lengthy sentences, notwithstanding the seriousness of their crimes, are inconsistent with the Eighth Amendment. #orpol

Science is clear: all young people grow and change, and our justice system should reflect this. Youth are not mentally or emotionally adult at the time of their crimes & can be rehabilitated. The Whites should receive a hearing & sentence compliant w/ the US Constitution.” #orpol
