A Mexican security officer came to speak with me. He told me Mexico cannot have people waiting at the POE in this way. I explained our clients have a right to be processed by CBP.
Explained CBP was not giving us a clear answer as to why our clients would not be processed. The Mexican official tried to get an answer from CBP.
CBP Supervisor came out and said they are saturated. He told us to follow the process. We asked him to explain how the process has changed since MPP Respondents can ask for a non-refoulement fear interview and must be processed. He could not explain it.
I asked if him if CBP could process only ONE of our cases, and he told me they cannot. We waited hours and were not able to have our clients’ rights heard. #SaveAsylum #EndMPP
