#SupremeCourt hearing on the alleged hate speech by #HarshMander commences: Sr adv Dushyant Dave represents Mander, who has been asked to explain contents of his speech. The Dec 2019 speech has been called inciting & contemptuous by the #DelhiPolice |@News18Courtroom

SG Tushar Mehta says the #DelhiPolice have stumbled upon one more alleged hate speech by #HarshMander, in which Mander can be heard as denigrating the top court.

Dave claims there was nothing contemptuous in Mander's speech if it is heard and read in entirety.

Sr adv CU Singh, Rajeev Dhavan, Karuna Nundy also appear for #HarshMander. SG Mehta objects to so many lawyers arguing for one client.

Dhavan says there can't be a suo motu contempt against Mander on a mere mentioning by someone.

Dave claims the Govt wants to browbeat. He says there is nothing contemptuous about Mander's speech & that he would be the last one to defend someone who has brought disrepute to the institution.

Dave: "I challenge Mr Mehta to bring a contempt against me if he thinks he can."

Harsh Mander's alleged hate speech case adjourned to Apr 15.
All parties asked to file their affidavits etc in the meantime. #CJI says this matter will now be taken up after #Sabrimala hearing gets over.
