This thread plays out what transpired in Jeff City today. The @MoDemParty pleading with the @MissouriGOP supermajority to pass a much-needed amendment. The GOP voted no. They believe we can wait to see what happens and come back to this matter.
As they were voting no, Missouri suffered its first #COVID19 death. Which leaves me asking, how many more will happen until our State leadership finally decides to step up?
In a time of crisis and of immense need for many Missourians state-wide, now is the time to act.
I’m proud of all the @MoDemParty members who stood and fought for Missouri today, and if any GOP members supported this effort than thank you as well.
Like I said, it’s a time to act, not to be political. The GOP chose to be political today. Chose to put party before people.
We have the opportunity this year to change our state. We can end the House GOP supermajority in November.
We just need to flip 8 GOP-held House seats Blue. That’s it.
Our district is 1 of those 8. District 16. It’s an open seat and we must take advantage of this opportunity.
A supermajority is essentially a monarchy in disguise. One side has all the say, power, and votes.
We Missourians deserve a fair and representative democracy that puts people first, not political agendas.
That’s why I’m running this year, in this moment, for this purpose.
This pandemic has shown our nation that our healthcare system needs drastic improvements. We can address these issues as a State.
As your State Rep. improving our health care system in Missouri will be a top priority. God forbid, if there’s a next time, we can be ready for it.
We need leaders in Jeff City who will step up, not just in times of crisis, but every single day. We need public servants who put Missourians first, before self and party. We need elected officials who will work to better everyone’s quality of life, for now and into the future.
