I have spoken with @TowerHamletsNow about the need to ensure refuse is collected. Criminally damaged vehicles have now been brought back into use, following a recent worker’s strike. However, the threat of further strikes looms. [THREAD]

This is a dispute between
@VeoliaUK and it’s workers, @unitetheunion members, who are contracted to @TowerHamletsNow. Workers should not have to reaort to legal action to claim back their holiday pay.

On April 1st, the service will brought in-house. However, these two weeks are crucial in tackling a backlog and ensuring effective disposal of waste in the midst of a public health crisis where more waste will be generated as more people remain at home due to #Covid_19.

@VeoliaUK should take all necessary steps to resolve the dispute with workers, award them their due holiday pay & prevent further strikes in the coming weeks. I will be writing to Veolia formally to ensure this dispute is resolved quickly in the interests of Poplar and Limehouse.
