Here are some updates from last night's Stop Police Crimes meeting for people who want to know what's going on with the day to day in the Chicago Alliance and how they can get plugged in:

Gerald Reed is in NRC at Stateville. His lawyers have filed a motion to reconsider but it's unclear when the courts will open again. He has one bar of soap left and is running out. People in cell block D have no soap even though groups have been donating soap to the prison.

We sent a letter last week to the governor explaining Gerald's case and demanding that he be released. You can read it here: files.constantcontact.com/76b4a08e301/f8…
We also sent it out as an abridged press release yesterday, which you can read here: files.constantcontact.com/76b4a08e301/ce…

(312)814-2121 is the best number to use for the governor. You can also make a statement about Gerald here: www2.illinois.gov/sites/gov/cont…
Also be sure to call IDOC (217-558-2200) and Stateville warden David Gomez (815-727-3607) to demand that prisoners be given healthcare and sanitation

Updated numbers for Kim Foxx are:
IL attorney general: 312-814-3000
IL dept of human rights: 312-814-6200
Demand that Kim Foxx take action to depopulate Cook County Jail, and particularly that she act faster to free ALL victims of detective Guevara

Tamon Russell is currently in Hill Correctional. They have better sanitary conditions than Stateville, but being in prison is inherently a health risk right now. Call the warden, Christine Brannon (309-343-4212) to inquire about the health of Tamon and other incarcerated people.

A lot of people are on social media and looking for things to do because of the quarantine, so we're doing a social media challenge to get people to call their representatives.
Make the calls, post the scripts, and tag 3+ friends.
You can also use chain emails or phone calls.

There was a suggestion that we make a tik tok. We will consider it.

The mayor called a meeting at 4pm on April fool's day to nominate a superintendent. The process was always undemocratic but having this meeting during the quarantine shows even less transparency than usual.
Voice your opinion by calling 408-418-9388, access code 962181026#

Join @BLMChi and flock the phones tomorrow. Let the mayor and the police know that we are watching and we will fight their corrupt and undemocratic practices.

Our Campaign to Free Incarcerated Survivors of police Torture (CFIST) was planned to have a kickoff event in May. We are currently moving the content of the kickoff online and planning virtual events. Stay tuned!

We need volunteers to do phone banking, calling CPAC supporters and asking them to call their representatives and raise the demand to #FreeThemAll.
If you would like to do phone banking from home, call Frank Chapman: 312-513-3795

We also commemorated #PalestineLandDay. We stand in full solidarity with Palestinians against colonialism. Palestinians have fought occupation and military violence for decades and it is the duty of all progressive organizations to support them. Check out @uspcn for more info.

Some of our members are getting involved in tenant organizing. Many people will not be able to pay rent during this crisis, and we need to be organized as communities to protect them (ourselves) against evictions and debt. See @TenantsUnitedHP and @AutonomousUnion for resources.

We will be posting regular updates from Monday SPC meetings to keep as many people involved as possible. Plug into whatever you can. Make calls. Talk to people (from >6 feet away). Go to a car protest. We need people power!
#FreeThemAll
