It was reported that despite the threat of an epidemic, the authorities in Wuhan took the protection of the people with kid gloves. The city didnot take enough precaution when it held its annual political gathering, the People's Congress.
The Oyo State government followed the Wuhan example when it invited the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for a political jamboree in Ibadan on Wednesday 18 March 2020, at the expense of the people’s health.
Some call COVID-19 the Chinese Virus. Chinese in Europe, America, face virus-related racism and xenophobia - Sinophobia. Some have labelled them Bioterrorists. To look at the conspiracy theories is Dr Obadiah Mailafia, a development economist.
On Mon 23 Mar 2020, I cried inside when the result of the test came. I was asleep. I heard voices singing in my dream, it was getting louder. When I opened my eyes, turned to the glass door where the rejoicing voices came from, I saw the nurses and cleaners singing and dancing.
Then it struck me that the result was negative. When they saw I was fully awake they open the glass door and rushed in without wearing their protective gears. I was overwhelmed by their jubilation. It was like I was dead and had resurrected.
