Our #SuddenlyRemote: Keep Your Company Culture Thriving is live! If you'd like to join us, there's still time, just go here: thoughtexchange.com/virtual-events…

Our host @dessalen is already crowdsourcing what makes a great #companyculture, so jump in!

There's a lot of tech you can use to bring innovation into a remote setting – @thoughtxchng is perfect for sending out a question like: what are some outdated beliefs we need to get rid of in order for change to take place?

Follow up with: what are some creative ideas we can use to improve our customer experience?

It's like the #stickynote exercise, but cleaner and easier!

It's a larger scale exercise, more inclusive and in less time!

Running exchanges before a #remotemeeting provides direction and connection for the meeting – meaning you can maintain connections and even improve them.

How do you maintain a sense of team when the team is spread out? We use @SlackHQ and create team chats – it fosters culture at all levels.

Culture has 3 levels: beginning with the leader creating connection through listening and asking powerful questions.

Simple questions like, what would you like to talk about? where are you at right now? provide space for connection and opportunities for #deeplistening.

Create a team mission for your #remoteteam with imagery - ex. your team is a pride of lions, the goals are zebras. Lions are great hunters on their own, but better together. Using imagery in meetings to support your team mission. Lions #starvetogether and #eattogether!

On an organizational level, the responsibility for culture can take the form of encouraging vulnerability and connection. On @SlackHQ we use channels like #oops (posting funny mistakes we've made) or #whatnowthekidsarehome to share resources for parents who are home with kids now

Constant and consistent 2-way communication contributes to a healthy culture - in the light of the changes due to #coronavirus, we've gone from monthly all-company meetings to weekly so that we connect more and more often.

Most of all - make sure you're still having fun! We did a Friday night @zoom_us serenade where our colleagues sang to us at the end of a hard week!

Let go of the #lastoneout paradigm! Showing support for the #parents in your org, the #mentalhealth of your employees, is more important now than ever!

Or #loudestvoicehighesttitle – instead only hearing the dominant voices, hear all voices by using an exchange to collect everyone's ideas, regardless of title and ability to public speak/persuasive nature.

Where's the proof? We see spontaneous acts of love for our #thoughtexchange culture through exchanges, @Glassdoor ratings, blog posts, social posts. Our remote culture is a bonus for our employees!

Creating a strong culture requires #intention and #attention#remoteculture is no exception! Plan for the shift, set expectations, and do an inventory of outdated thinking.

Thank you to everyone who participated today! If there's a topic you want to see covered in our future #suddenlyremote events, ping us and let us know. Check our #virtualevents calendar to register for our upcoming events: thoughtexchange.com/events-calenda…
