THREAD- With the new Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme available many constituents have contacted me as they've been unable to be placed on the scheme.

I've written to the Chancellor @RishiSunak to raise these issues urgently & urge the Treasury to make several changes.👇 1/8

I welcome the change in cut-off date from the 28th February to the 19th March but I know that more needs to be done.

The requirement for an employees RTI to be submitted on/before March 19th means many new employers will miss out- even if they joined their job before 19th. 2/8

I asked the Treasury to look at alternative ways of evidencing these new hires to ensure that people employed in March do not fall through the gaps and can access support. #newstarterfurlough

Another problem remains for individuals who were planning on moving jobs but whose new contracts or positions fell through.

Previous employers are refusing to put ex-employees on the CJRS- I've urged the Government to address this. 4/8

I know that people employed through umbrella companies are still unsure about how the CJRS will work for them- with many worried they could be paid at the National Minimum Wage rather than their usual rate.

I raised this in my letter & asked for clarity. 5/8

Many of my constituents who are unable to access support are having to use Universal Credit- they're having trouble accessing UC & are having to wait 5 weeks to receive the first payment.

Once again I've urged the Government to scrap the 5 week wait. 6/8

Lastly I've raised the extremely important problems facing the arts & creative sector- where many are unable to access support through either the SEISS or CJRS.

We need to see that steps taken to ensure they can access the support they need. 7/8

I hope the Government listen to the concerns that myself and many others have raised and make changes.

With the CJRS coming online yesterday I know that some constituents will still have problems and issues- please contact me at Ruth@RuthCadbury.org.uk.
