BREAKING: As some states begin to reopen, despite advice from public health professionals, we are standing arm in arm with Black Faith Leaders and encouraging our communities to protect their health and continue to #StayInside. naacpldf.org/press-release/…

The virus continues to be a grave and critical threat to our community. Reopening states prematurely threatens our lives and our health. We’re urging Black-owned businesses and churches to remain closed.

This virus is ravaging Black communities and we must do everything we can to protect ourselves and prevent the spread. In Houston alone, Black people makeup 57% of #COVID19 deaths, but only represent 22% of the city’s population.

Black Georgians makeup 30% of the state’s population but account for 54% of the state’s COVID-19 deaths.

We’re compelled by our faith and our commitment as civil rights leaders to speak life into our communities. We must protect our health.

Our families need us.

Our communities need us.

#StayInside

We encourage you to ensure our community will come out of this challenging time stronger than ever by completing your census, registering to vote, and making sure you’re prepared to vote in the upcoming election.
