Well, I wasn't expecting two different pieces to come out today, but I wrote one for @RNS and @Sojourners today, and I'll share both with you in this thread.
First, my RNS piece:
religionnews.com/2020/04/24/loo…
This piece focuses on the Potawatomi flood story to share about how we are working through our process of grief right now. This flood story also guides my new book. #NativeBook
Here's a bit about that:
If you read the piece, I'd love to know what the dance of grief and hope looks like for you, the ebb and flow, the way they both seem to move and circle around us constantly.
Next, my newest piece for
@Sojourners, which focuses on ideas of solidarity.
sojo.net/articles/solid…
How do we actually embody solidarity, and how does it interact with our grief?
I begin this piece sharing about how growing up in the baptist church we didn't really practice solidarity. We weren't really sharing life with people, we were examining souls to see who should be saved.
That's not solidarity.
I name those we hold solidarity with, but really, the list is endless. Who do you feel you hold solidarity with right now?
What seems to continue to guide us are the questions of what's on the other side of this.
We are in it together now, and we will be in it together then. I just hope we choose communal ways of living instead of individualistic ones.
If you'd like to order my book, it comes out soon!
