#InternationalWorkersDay is especially meaningful this year. While we honour the historic work of the labour movement to bring us workers safety and rights, COVID-19 has shone a light on the gaps we still need to fight for.

We would like to introduce you to Diana, who works in homelessness service: “I’ve had to take a second job working frontline at a drop-in in order to get by.”

“I am using vacation days at my full-time job to do this, and it’s difficult to juggle two stressful jobs just trying to keep people experiencing homelessness safe, connected, and well.” continues Diana.

“If I get sick working frontline, my full-time work – where I am the only full-time staff person among three staff – will lose a major part of its team. I feel like I’ve been put into an impossible situation.”
