Trash crisis back in #Lebanon, why?Because there were no actual solutions in the first place. The Gov+rotating ministries kept trying to enlarge landfills & contracted new companies for trash collection; rather than implementing more environmentally friendly/sustainable solutions.

There's also an issue with one of the contracting companies, the Gov (as I understood) owes that company money, now the company is refusing trash collection until that amount of money is paid. via @WMCLebanon #Lebanon

And the most important problem, #Lebanon is a small country, without proper Trash management and recycling strategy, Lebanon will always have a trash crisis challenge looming around. (In case you want more info but in AR)

Of course this problem has been looming around since the beginning of 2020, one of the main issues is that the spaces/landfills that are dedicated to Trash containment are almost full in several areas due to of course: mismanagement (Rings a bell?) = #Lebanon's corruption.

Back in 2015 - protests erupted in Beirut and were referred to as the #YouStink protests to highlight the trash crisis that resulted in months of piled up trash in the streets of #Lebanon. The protests did not fully succeed and the successor cabinet(s) failed yet again.
