In a few weeks, @amazon will have its annual shareholder meeting. In the lead-up to that meeting @NationalCenter's @DanhofJustin is leading a group of shareholders and Prime members in urging Amazon to drop viewpoint discrimination. 1/ pjmedia.com/news-and-polit…
Specifically, his petition calls on Amazon stakeholders to speak out about @amazonsmile's reliance on the discredited Southern Poverty Law Center, especially after the SPLC's racial discrimination, sexual harassment, and hate-for-pay scandals. 2/
Amazon's reliance on the SPLC is a serious problem because former SPLC employees said the "hate group" list is a "con" to bilk donors and smear political opponents. @DJKMinistries is suing Amazon and the SPLC for defamation. 3/ pjmedia.com/news-and-polit…
Mainstream conservative and Christian groups like @AllianceDefends, @FRCdc, @ACTforAmerica, and @securefreedom have been falsely accused of being "hate groups," listed alongside the KKK. Even former @ACLU President Nadine Strossen insisted ADF is NOT a "hate group." 4/
It is baffling that Amazon chooses to rely on this scandal-plagued leftist organization rather than choosing to have its own staff vet nonprofits, or to rely on 501(c)3 tax-exempt status. Even the non-partisan @New_Tolerance has condemned its reliance on SPLC. 5/
As an Amazon Prime member myself, I greatly appreciate Amazon's services and feel betrayed that a company that does so much good and is so necessary in this crisis would side with such a discredited organization. This does a disservice to Amazon's conservative customers. 6/
