Police activity has closed sections of I-84 east of Troutdale.

PIO is responding. Media staging area being established at the entrance to Thousand Acres Park.

Video update from @SheriffReese regarding police activity on Interstate 84.

Just before 10:30, we learned @ORStatePolice was in pursuit near Hood River of a person of interest in connection a homicide investigation out of Washington State. Shots were fired multiple times by the suspect during the length of the pursuit while driving westbound on I-84.

At MP 18.5, officer were able to get the vehicle stopped using pursuit intervention tactics . The person was detained and transported to a local hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time. There is no threat to the public.

East County Major Crimes Team is leading the investigation. Westbound lanes of I-84 are closed indefinitely. A single eastbound lane may open shortly. If you happened to be driving on I-84 and your vehicle was damaged, please call the tip line at 503-988-0560.

All officers are okay and the investigation continues.

The suspect has been identified as Grayson Morris, 26. After an evaluation at a local hospital, Morris was booked into jail on charges of:
Attempted murder x4
Unlawful use of a weapon x4
UUMV x1
Robbery x1
Attempt to elude x1
