Over the next few days, MCSO will be sharing some Seat Belt Myths vs Realities from the folks @NHTSAgov #ClickItOrTicket
Seat Belt Myth vs Reality 1
Myth: Seat belts can trap you in a fire or under water.
Reality: While this can be true, incidents involving fire or water account for 0.5% of crashes & wearing a seat belt gives you a much greater chance of being conscious & able-bodied to escape.

We are proud of our professional and dedicated Corrections Deputies.
It's #CorrectionalOfficersWeek and throughout the next several days we will be sharing just a few of the great folks in our Corrections Division.
Deputy Szarowski is in our Court Services Unit which ensures that our court house is kept safe!
We asked some of our followers about when they saw someone driving distracted that was particularly dangerous.
One scary response “Unable to maintain lane, driving too fast then too slow, almost hitting other cars & the median. The kicker? They had a “baby on board” sticker.”
Another response was from an angry spouse, “I told him about it when we got home. I was following my husband.”
Thank you for having a talk with him!

#MCSODistractedDrivingAwarenessMonth
What is #DistractedDriving? According to @NHTSAgov, a distraction is a specific type of inattention that occurs when drivers divert their attention from the driving task to focus on some other activity instead.
In Oregon, the law says it’s illegal to drive while holding or using a mobile electronic device (e.g. cell phone, tablet, GPS, laptop).
