I can’t help but feel this is building to something.
Why would Schiff want the transcripts of Flynn’s calls with the Russian Ambassador? Certainly not to bolster the DOJ’s case for dropping the charges against him. Charges he plead guilty to. Twice.

Judge Sullivan seems to have that case under his jurisdiction already. So why would Schiff want the current or next (Grenell/Ratcliffe) DNI to turn over the Flynn transcripts? Perhaps it is because he knows they won’t. Ratcliffe is brand new as DNI and he has to pay off.
He won’t deliver the documents and if he does, they will be heavily redacted. He will slow walk them, force a subpoena, force the committee to go through the courts or wait until SCOTUS rules on the subpoena cases.
And that’s the point for Schiff maybe. Maybe he thinks the committee will win the cases at SCOTUS regarding subpoenas. A decision in Mazars and Vance are coming in June. If they they do win, they will get trump’s taxes, perhaps even Don McGahn’s testimony.
The Judiciary Committee just told SCOTUS the following regarding their position in the Mueller Grand Jury Documents case: ‘Congress can indeed legally obtain grand jury materials in connection with impeachment proceedings.’
What better way to solidify your argument at the Supreme Court than to actually have an impeachment proceeding at the time of the hearing? Even better, if the DNI decides not to provide the Flynn transcripts as demanded in the Schiff letter. That girders an obstruction argument.
And there it is. The president will be impeached again adding a third Article. Obstruction of Justice. McGahn’s testimony will fill in the blanks around the Comey firing and the attempted firing of Jeff Sessions. The defiance of subpoenas. The lack of cooperation from DNI.
The last impeachment was due to the desperation the House felt to protect Ukraine. This one is for us. Think about how motivated they’ll be during a pandemic literally killing upwards of 100k people. The rule of law is under attack, our democracy is under attack.
