Endlessly curious about the human bodymind. Making the unconscious conscious. Trying to embody courage, integrity and love. Tripping on meaning.

Managed to create a makeshift system. For all non-essential content consumption and curiosities.

Sharing my ideas and @NotionHQ template below.

<Nerd thread>

I have a central database for all the content I want to consume. (Articles, Books, Podcasts, Videos, Documentaries, etc.)

If I come across anything interesting or if someone recommends anything — it goes to this database first.

Here's what I record.

- Type
- Title
- Time Commitment
- Topic
- Recommended By
- Priority
- Status
- Score/5
- Link
- Creator

Some manual work upfront, but a lot of long-term benefits. Trying to automate this.

To estimate the time commitment for texts, I have a browser extension that returns the word count for articles.

And there's this website that estimates the word count of books: wordcounters.com/word-count/sea…

If I want to learn about a particular topic — I set the priority high.

And when I have free time or when I catch myself scrolling mindlessly, I go to this table and pick something from the top of the list.

I can easily filter the list by Type or Priority or Topic. Or sort it by the time commitment.

When I get around to checking out a recommendation, having the "Recommended By" field reminds me to reach out to the person who recommended it.

One, to thank them for the recommendation.

Two, to discuss the ideas with them, which is one of the best ways to deepen your learning.

Every day before I go to sleep, I pick one of the items from the list and add the link to my Notion home.

It makes my decision making easy.

I've realized that when I do that I spend less time scrolling mindlessly.

The paradox of choices is real.

Over time, I'll have all the articles/podcasts/books/documentaries I've consumed in one place. Rated and sorted.

This way if anyone in my network wants to learn about a particular topic, I can quickly share some of the best content related to that topic.

While consuming the content, if I come across a big idea or a major takeaway, I clip it and file it away in my "second brain".

Notion is perfect for creating a second brain. Both functionally and aesthetically powerful. And has a powerful search function.

Here's the Notion template for the above system: notion.so/Content-Consum…

Feel free to duplicate it and tweak it as necessary.

If you think this can be improved or automated in any way, please share your inputs. Cheers.
