Katsuki didn’t get sick. The last time he was sick with something worse than a cold had been in middle school with a fever that knocked him on his ass for three days and he was forced to eat his mothers god awful soup that almost killed him
(it actually made him better much faster, but he would never admit it). Since then, the most he suffered from was a sniffle every so often and mild cough. Suck on a cough drop and BAM, he was fine.
Sometimes his throat got scratchy and raw from shouting so much, his ears rang from the explosions that he let off, and his classmates (dare he call them friends) gave him a headache. He was sure as hell sick of everyones bullshit, but Ochako was wrong.
He wasn’t ill.
“This is a waste of time.” Katsuki shivered, despite the sweat dripping down his temple. He blamed it on the heat; it was a 90 degree day in the middle of summer, after all. His breath hitched and he turned his head, sneezing into his elbow.
Allergies (that he also didn’t have).
“Katsuki, you have a fever.”
His girlfriend sat beside him in the waiting area, tissue in hand.
“I got a patrol in an hour,” Katsuki tried to swallow to get his ears to unplug. He hated how nasally he sounded.
Ochako tapped on her phone, humming softly beside him. “No, you don’t. I called your agency to let them know you’d be out today.”
“You what—?!” He turned, burying his face back into his elbow in a coughing fit. “Why?!”
She gave him a stern look.
“Because, you are sick and no where near well enough to handle a patrol right now—“
“I’m fucking,” he sniffled back snot, “fine!”
“—and risking getting a bunch of civilians sick or encountering a villain in your condition.”
“I can still take ‘em.”
Ochako rolled her eyes, lifted one fist and jabbed him lightly in the arm. He gasped, clenching his teeth and grabbed his arm with a strangled sound.
“What the fuck?!”
Muscle aches. She’d barely even given him a love tap.
“Exactly. Now stop crying like a big baby and get your medicine.”
Katsuki sunk into his seat, chin buried in the collar of his sweatshirt. “I’m not a fucking baby…” he grumbled to himself.
Ochako signed, thankful when the nurse finally called them into the office.
She rose and Katsuki followed, growling a low, “not so fast!” She hid her smirk behind tightly pinched lips.
The nurse sat him down on a medical bed and took his vitals. “Wow, Mr. Bakugou, you’re really burning up. It’s a good thing you came in.”
Katsuki ground his teeth. “I have a high body temperature!” he snapped. “I ain’t si-ii-ACHO!!” The nurse flinched back several steps as Katsuki turned his head and wiped his nose on his sleeve.
She smiled patiently. “The doctor will be in momentarily.”
Ten minutes later, Katsuki sat glaring at the doctor as he typed notes into his computer and hummed to himself with a nod.
“You are definitely sick. Looks like you picked up the flu. I’m going to prescribe you some medication that you can take.
Rest, drink plenty of water, and stick to light foods for the next few days and you should be better in no time.”
Katsuki continued to glare as Ochako stood beside him with a bright smile.
Little shit was basking in his misery.
“I’ll make sure he takes his medicine and does as you say.” Kiss ass… Katsuki sneered at her, but she ignored him and grabbed his arm, making pins and needles shoot through his nerves as she led him out of the office.
He could feel her smugness and the unsaid ‘I told you so’ hanging between them.
“…Fuck you…” he grumbled.
Ochako leaned her head against his shoulder, winking up at him. “Not until you’re all better.”
