The 22-year-old man slain outside of an Old Market bar in #Omaha has been identified. Police have not announced any arrests involving the shooter. And downtown is digging out from a night of protests and police response.

Hearing some people questioning why we haven't yet identified the shooter. We are awaiting official confirmation. Without it, we would be accusing someone of shooting instead of the people investigating the death. We will update the story when we have it verified.
Tense times don't change our need to make sure we get it right. Same reason it took a while for us to confirm the name of the person who was shot, James Scurlock, 22.
Story has been updated to reflect that the shooter remains in @OmahaPolice custody. Police say the investigation continues and they asked anybody with video or information to call. Phone number is in the story.

The father of James Scurlock III, also named James, just gave a statement on what he'd like to see. He asked for peace. He said he didn't want people to loot or be violent in his son's name. He asked Douglas Co. Attorney Don Kleine to prosecute his son's shooter.
