For years the Government defended its controversial program to claw back one and half billion dollars worth of welfare payments. Now it will repay $720 million to many of those who received so-called #robodebts. #abc730 @FarrellPF

Disability pensioner Tim Cahalan received a debt notice for almost $3,000 last year. His mother Penny Cahalan told 7.30, “They are targeting a very vulnerable group who often don't have the ability to stand up to this kind of bullying.” #abc730

The Government is facing a class action over the robodebt scheme, seeking damages on behalf of hundreds of thousands of people. It’s worried any apology could be used against it in court. #abc730
