What will #realcollege look like in the fall?

The institutions like the ones in this NYT article represent only about 1/2 of US higher ed -- private & public 4 year not-for-profits.

What happens for the other half: 2 year & for-profit institutions?

nytimes.com/2020/06/03/mag…

"Ohio State is a large community of 100,000 people."

So quaint.

@CUNY has 257,000 students. Was there a reason that the NYT snubbed the largest higher ed institution in its city?

The stories we tell about coronavirus matter. College isn't just dorms and football games. In fact, 1 in 3 college students don't go the types of colleges they are talking about in this article; they go to for-profit schools or 2 year colleges. What is happening there?

My questions
1) We know that transitions from 2 year to 4 year schools matter for career mobility. How are institutions dealing with that now?
2) Part-time faculty is on the rise at all types of schools. How will this crisis impact them?
3) This article assumes dorm bubbles...

3) Dorm bubbles won't work in 2 year schools. What are mitigation efforts where people are working/commuting/studying all at once?
4) Institutions that serve minory populations are underfunded to begin with. What are state houses doing to shore up funding at 2 year schools now?

5) A challenge in for-profit schools is continuity for students if the school goes under. What is @usedgov doing to help students of the for-profit schools that might be at risk of going under in this crisis?

But go ahead and ask about Big Ten football and social distancing in dorm rooms. Know that is completely irrelevant for more than half of US higher ed.
