TUNE IN at 5pm today as I testify at OAG’s Budget Oversight Hearing about proposals that will help our office increase public safety and save the District money: dc.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.ph…

This is a difficult time for us all.

#COVID19 has taken hundreds of our neighbors and put substantial financial strain on businesses, workers, and the District’s coffers.

Our office stands ready to continue to protect DC residents and help the District save money.

In FY 2019, OAG recovered over $10.8 million in settlements and contributed an additional $184.1 million in tax revenue preserved and collections for District children.

Our office generates and saves revenue, a critical element while we contend with a significant budget deficit.

Our office's requested budget enhancements will help us build upon our successes and strengthen efforts to:

*Enhance community-based violence interruption efforts
*Protect residents during #COVID19
*Hold slumlords accountable
*Fight wage theft
*Stop District polluters

OAG's #CuretheStreets continues to interrupt violence in their neighborhoods, while also delivering food & educational materials to underserved residents.

As the nation calls for new approaches to public safety, funding community-based safety efforts is more important than ever.

In work w/ underserved residents, #CuretheStreets has also been busy encouraging people to complete the #Census.

Their efforts in Washington Highlands/Congress Heights have pushed participation to 51%, making it the first #Ward8 tract to hit that marker: bit.ly/2MM9xtg
