#Zoom shut down the account of Chinese dissident @ZhouFengSuo, days after he held a virtual commemoration for the #TiananmenMassacre

Zhou told me he knows exactly why his account was shut down: "Zoom was acting on behalf of CCP’s China by canceling my account. It was imposing Beijing’s censorship”

Zoom restored the account last night, only after media attention, citing "local laws” as the reason for the shut down.
But this just raises more questions...

Some questions for Zoom:
— How did Zoom know who was participating in the conference?
— Did it share information with the Chinese government?
— What other accounts were impacted?
Zoom has not responded to additional questions

The fact Zoom is one of the few global platforms available inside the Great Firewall makes this a worrying decision.
"Silencing people who are peacefully sharing their political views is a particularly odious violation of human rights,” @SophieHRW said.
