Measure your product change with a better framework!
These insights are from a meetup hosted by @nanachiang Product Manager at booking.com
In a thread for you ⬇️
1. Major dilemma of a product manager-
PRIORITIZATION
Use this graph to see where your change stands.
2. After we have prioritized our problems. It's time to act!
Start with a hypothesis.
Find the problem and think of an idea that will have an impact on user behaviour.
#hypothesis
3. Translate the hypothesis into metrics
4. Calculate the problem score
Seriousness score × % of impacted users= problem score.
The seriousness score is choosen between 1-4 depending on the frequency of the impact after change.
You can find the % of impacted user from your previous data.
5. Find the solution score.
% of leading metrics × % of lagging metrics = solution score.
We assume the solution score to be 5 here.
6. Understand the relationship between metrics
Leading and Lagging metrics are both positively and negatively correlated
If more users click the suggested keyword, we can assume that the check out rate will increase
If the error rate is high then the transaction rate decreases
7. Multiply the score.
The result you get will determine the seriousness of the problem.
1= can be ignored
5= high seriousness
We have also written a blog explaining all steps in detail.
Retweet it to help other product managers!
