When you say The United States is your country, it is no different than you say Waste Management is your country or any other corporation.
You will not find the United States a country & a Union as a "one nation" in any of the founding documents.

Let's take a look at a historical timeline.
I will use New York, for example.
The Sovereign body politic meaning landowners created the nation of New York in 1775
The Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776.
The Articles of Confederation came about in 1777...

...The corporation known as the United States of America came about in 1789.
Now a couple law Maxim's for you:
