JS open source awards are this week (I think at #JSNationLive). They a have a bunch of categories with many new open source projects nominated. Here are my predictions (no affliations, just personal interest), thread of threads
Breakthrough project of the year.
Tailwind CSS - The minimal css framework thats taken the frontend world just can't stop talking about. Low-level, performant and non-opinionated. Some very cool projects have been built with this.

Stars - 24.1k
Alpine JS - The minimal javascript framework that managed to shine inspite of a crowded playground. Syntax like Vue but an attitude like Tailwind. Not so popular but I've definitely seen twitter threads and courses on this.
github.com/alpinejs/alpine
Stars - 8.7k
Eleventy - A new static site generator again breaking through from under the shadow of gatsby and Jekyll. It's the simplest one and takes performance and developer experience seriously!
github.com/11ty/eleventy/
Stars - 5.9k
Deno - The Javascript runtime built out of the learnings of nodejs. Sparked multiple debates and memes alike.
github.com/denoland/deno
Stars - 63.k
I want Eleventy to win. I think it was a difficult category of libraries and this library has shined brightly.
I predict Tailwind will win. It's a crowd favourite. Gives real value to the community and an innovation unto itself.

I want Snowpack to win and I think it will! It has opened up a new category of bundlers that did not exist before and inspired the project Vite as well.
