Tech twitter especially frontend discourse is dead or at the very least dying and becoming increasingly disconnected. 👇
Open source burnout - Apathy and general lack of compassion towards open source work has made it unviable for talented devs. Many popular names I followed for tech content have stopped working in the open, closed projects for funded patrons only etc.

Okay so here’s what I’ve gathered about defi/web3/blockchain ecosystems.
Not sure how long this thread will be.
Ethereum is a runaway success but it has a few flaws atm. It’s not scalable, not secure enough, uses too much energy and fees to make a block are too high. The foundation is fixing these. Will take a few years.

Backing up my PC and finding code snippet projects and putting them up on github :)
Here's one super basic trial of puppeteer taking browser screenshots. github.com/pksjce/puppete…
I once spent 2 whole weeks trying to create a vite storybook builder plugin and failed miserably. And then I saw someone on the storybook discord crack the same problem and get it working. I abandoned my project and now I'm thinking I'll delete it.

Since my last meltdown over how my twitter feed had gone completely out of my control, I've managed to really get a grip on it.
Unfollowed a total of 63 people esp people who shared hot-takes, polarising and spread negativity. I could feel my feed relaxing with every unfollow
So who are the people I actually follow?
- People who don't tweet a lot but when they do it's worth bookmarking.
- People who create blogs, videos, code, live streams.
- People who educate across my interests - Tech, politics, philosophy.
JS open source awards are this week (I think at #JSNationLive). They a have a bunch of categories with many new open source projects nominated. Here are my predictions (no affliations, just personal interest), thread of threads
Breakthrough project of the year.
Tailwind CSS - The minimal css framework thats taken the frontend world just can't stop talking about. Low-level, performant and non-opinionated. Some very cool projects have been built with this. github.com/tailwindcss/ta…

Ember.js was a framework way ahead of its time.
They were pioneers of routing as source of truth on the client side. You could also make route changes wait until API calls returned and provide alternate loading behaviour.
In 2013-14. 🤯
They were completely open source.
They had versioned documentation.
They had computed properties which worked so well. They were OO and allowed you to implement a proper MVC.

Today I met Didga & Bindi from d @CatmantooDidga family. Apart frm being the world’s most talented cat, Didga is such a chill cat too! Her adoring fans fawned over her, acting like annoying paparazzi. Yet, she managed to sneak in a little nap at the busy Hyde park in smoky Sydney
Video of @CatmantooDidga showing off the cats

Moms visiting and this evening we got around to making her most famous chakkuli. 🤤
Thread with pics and videos 👇
Chakkuli is a snack crispy made in south India. They are made in bulk and stored to be munched on at a later point in time. You make a dough of rice flour, urad daal, chilli powder, salt, sesame seeds and ghee.🥣

Yesterday I rewatched the last 6 episodes of Avatar, the Last airbender. 🤯 There really is no better series out there, that ends so satisfactorily and that has such unique characters. I was struck esp by Azula’s character arc this time.
Thread 👇
Azula’s slow descent into madness is so well done. She is a bratty kid of a powerful family. It starts with her deep hurt and jealousy towards Zuko whom their mother clearly favoured over her.

Moving from cooking in my kitchen to cooking at my parent's reminds me so much of working on startup's codebase vs working on a large team's codebase.
The tools are old, large and are unwieldy for small dishes just like the build systems, complicated linting and IDE help.
There's three kinds of oil and two kinds of ghee in active use. Just like the multiple parsing libraries and state management libs.
There's larger surface area to clean up after cooking, just like huge area of testing required in larger codebases.

A little longer #devpoetry
Aretha Franklin is definitely the OG queen 👑
(alt text in next tweet)
Title - A prayer for my code
The moment I git push
Before the CI does deploy
I say a little prayer for you
While running my lint checks
And wondering what brackets I missed
I say a little prayer for you

I'm finally writing up my talk for @react_india and I'm unearthing some bad memories of struggles we went through when I submitted the idea for this talk. My talk won't be fancy or shiny but very raw and real. It gives me a lot of imposter syndrome thinking that I struggled (1/n)
so much because I was not clever enough to grasp React's ways. Thankfully, I didn't struggle alone. My team is full of pragmatic and thoughtful devs who looked at each problem from all angles, analysed all solutions available and adopted what was feasible for us.

My whole video creation process has been using free and/or open source tools! I didn’t think it would be possible to create something with decent production value without buying expensive software.
OBS for all video recording. It is very powerful. I use it for audio recording and screen recording too.

A haul of some fabulous shopping I did in India.
List 👇
1. These cute juthis from Bata of all places! They are comfort padded and should last me the year comfortably 🥳 2. Two of these oil containers with a rounded spoon for my cooking oil and ghee.

I have now been working on JIRA for more than a year! One thing that continues to be exciting is how much our team cares about performance. All the new stuff being built is scrutinised very closely and held to higher standards every single day.
Perf has so many aspects to be considered and developers around me, including myself are continuously building the muscle to measure and improve everything we build. We are learning every day!

Tried my hand at creating a Graphql API today. Using @GraphCMS . Lovely experience! I actually have an API I can play with and enhance! 😍
Also, their slack is super responsive. 👌 (1/7)
First I gave a thought about the kind of data I need. I needed two models with certain fields. I wrote down them all on a note. Signed up to GraphCMS and got myself a developer license. Then created my Schema. A Schema here seemed to be an entity full of fields.(2/7)
