#Singapore’s ruling party cuts out the pro-PAP troll middlemen to begin smearing a critic themselves. Absolutely outrageous. This sort of “traitor” narrative is playing with fire.

Shame on @tanwumeng for writing this, but it isn't just about him. What was the process of this going from idea to published on @PAPSingapore's platforms? Who approved this article? Who edited it? What does Jurong GRC's anchor minister @Tharman_S have to say about this?

One of the worst parts of such smear campaigns is that I have yet to see any credible analysis or prediction suggesting that @PAPSingapore is in any danger of losing the upcoming #sgelection. They will not lose power, which means...

...(1) this isn’t some desperate strategy to stay on, but a lashing out ‘cos they just cannot stand not having the last word, not winning every little petty thing, and they are willing to poison the well of public discourse and scorch the earth if that’s what it takes, and...

...(2) because they will win anyway (and they know this), there is not serious political cost (in the short-term, anyway) and thus no accountability.

The first senior PAP guy to come out and comment on Tan Wu Meng's hit job and... he doubles down on it and gaslights by saying Tan was just asking if Pritam Singh was aware of Alfian's posts, accusing Tan's critics of hypocrisy because "free speech". 🤬mothership.sg/2020/06/shanmu…

Of course our mainstream media will regurgitate. Alfian has issued a long response on his FB but it's only one little para here. The result is that people who aren't following closely will get the impression that Pritam and Alfian are dodgy in some way:
