Imagine - just imagine - you'd been bombed. Not just you, or your neighbourhood, or your city. But your whole country. Your child's school, your local hospital, the place you work.
I don't know what it means to have an explosive fall on you once. So heaven knows what it'd be like for five years, two months, one week and two days. 5 continuous years of bombardment.
This country is called #Yemen. It is one of the Middle East's poorest.
So today, in 2020, four in every five people requires urgent humanitarian assistance. That's eighty percent. Imagine everyone in your mobile's contact list up to the letter U is in urgent need of help. 80%.
#Yemen is indisputably the world's largest humanitarian crisis.
2 MILLION innocent children are suffering acute malnutrition. They are hungry. They aren't going to school. Many are orphaned. Many have seen death first-hand. 1.7 million are internally displaced, and about half do not have access to safe water.
The numbers go on and on. But every number is a face. A life ruined, a story untold, a family torn apart. Until today I have stayed silent, shunned and intentionally ignored their plight. "What can I do, after all?"
