#ShoreTemple is built with blocks of granite, dating from the 8th century AD. At time of its creation, site was a busy port during reign of Narasimhavarman II of Pallava dynasty. It is one of the oldest structural stone temples of South India.

#ShoreTemple at #Mahabalipuram is a complex of temples and shrines. The tsunami of December 2004 that struck the coastline of Coromandel exposed an old collapsed temple built entirely of granite blocks.

Anantashayi Vishnu (reclining posture of Vishnu lying on serpent Ananta) is enshrined in a small rectangular shrine b/w large KshatriyasimhesvaraTemple & RajasimhaPallaveshvaraTemple. Vishnu is depicted with 4 arms but his attributes are missing (damaged).
