"Why is it important to read books?"

This is a question many people have asked me.

Let me explain you from the biological perspective why reading books is important.

World famous Ethologist Dr. Richard Dawkins quoted the following sentence in his book 'The selfish gene'

"Survival machines that can simulate the future are one step ahead of survival machines who can only learn on the basis of overt trial & error. The trouble with overt trial is it takes time and energy. The trouble with overt error is it is often fatal.

Simulation is both safer and faster."

This means that the living being that can learn from other person's trial and error, is 10 steps ahead of the living being that can only learn from their mistakes.

Let me explain the connection of this quote with reading books.

Consider that you want to improve your interpersonal skills and make friends and become sociable.

You can either apply what you already know and be ineffective at making friends and

establishing a connection with people.

Or you can read some good books on the subject such as 'How to win friends and influence people'.
Authors of these books have gone through trial and error to help you avoid going through the same tribulations.

They've also documented the lessons learnt by them from their mistakes, allowing you to simply spend time absorbing their lessons, thus enabling you to simulate the same trial and error and learn quickly.

Sadly, most people in this world focus more on BLINDLY doing things instead of smartly doing them.

No wonder why most people are average.

The top wealthy people have inculcated the habit of reading.

Bill Gates goes on reading vacations.

Warren Buffett reads more than 500 pages per day.

Mark Cuban uses the travel time in his private jet to read and gain knowledge.

Follow the footsteps of the great people and your life WILL improve.
