Extremely happy get Protocol for #SwachhSurvekshan2021 launched today.
It is sixth edition of the largest cleanliness survey of urban areas.
SBM-U, launched on 2nd Oct 2014, has made remarkable progress in last six years of its journey.

Today, urban India has become Open Defecation Free. More importantly, there has been a perceptible & visible change in the behavior of our citizens across the country. It has turned this cleanliness Mission truly a ‘Jan Andolan’.

Swachh Survekshan has caught the imagination of citizens and stakeholder alike and the increasing participation with every passing year is testimony to the way in which the citizens have taken complete ownership of the Swachhata of their cities.

We have learnt a lot via different practices & #SwachhSurvekshan has played a key role in our journey to fulfill the dream & resolve of Hon’ble PM to make India fully clean.
All #Survey2021 data will be integrated on our new Portal launched today & will be completely IT enabled.

We have launched a new award performance category ‘Prerak DAUUR Samman’, in #Survey2021. As the name suggests, it is a motivational competition. It has 5 categories for felicitation of cities viz. -Divya (Platinum), Anupam (Gold), Ujjwal (Silver), Udit (Bronze), Aarohi (Aspiring)

Apart from ranking cities for overall performance, new standard for felicitating is based on WasteSegregation into Wet/Dry/Hazardous, Developed processing capacity, Actual processing of wetwaste, recycling/processing dry/C&D waste,% of waste going to landfills & Sanitation status

The #Survey2021 indicators focus on parameters pertaining to wastewater treatment & reuse along with faecal sludge. Similarly, crucial issues of legacy waste management & remediation of landfills have also been brought to the front in this edition of Survekshan in Toolkit-2021.

This year, the focus on citizens’ participation has been taken a notch higher by introducing indicators that encourage innovations led by citizens, start-ups, entrepreneurs & Swachhata Champions amongst many others.

The motivation brought about by the cleanliness survey has strengthened capacity of cities to fight COVID-19 with use of technology & innovation. I am sure that all new parameters will further enthuse cities to aspire towards higher levels of ‘Swachhata’ via Integrated Approach.
