Visited LightHouse Project site (LHP) at Perumbakkam in Chennai today. Hon’ble PM laid the foundation of this work of constructing 1,152 G+5 houses on 1 January 2021. Ms Sirke is using Precast Concrete Construction Technology from Finland to deliver this work in less than a year. Was extremely impressed to see the progress on site. On the one hand, raft, base concrete slab etc are going for 4 towers, precast elements like roof slab, hollow columns, stairs etc are being cast in a temporary factory type of set up around 200 metres away from the site.

Heartiest congratulations to Govt of Tamil Nadu & their Koyambedu Tertiary Treatment Water RO Plant in Chennai for receiving Global Water Award 2020 for Wastewater Project of the Year!

@pibchennai It is an AMRUT funded Project to convert secondary treated water into better than drinking quality level.

Visited this Plant today. It is getting 60 MLD secondary treated water from the STP set up in adjoining plot, with capacity to produce 214 MLD water.

Reviewed progress of flagship urban missions in Tamil Nadu today in Chennai. With nearly 50% urban population & 664 cities/ towns, this State is the most urbanised State in the country. With focus of on enhancing ease in living & improving urban landscape, huge investments have been made in TN by my Ministry in last 6 years.

These include central assistance, State/ City contributions, individual investments & PPPs under various missions/ schemes.

Inspected 9 km metro section of Washermenpet to Wimco Nagar, which is ready for inauguration by Hon’ble PM tomorrow at 11 am in Chennai. This section covers very thickly populated areas of Northern Chennai. It connects to large number of public/private huge sector industrial units & now connect them to airport, major railways & inter/ intra-city bus stations. Happy to interact with empowered transgender operators, who are fully trained to run New Washermenpet Station.

Visited the Integrated Command & Control Centre (ICCC) developed by Chennai Smart City today. As a brain & nervous system of the city, it is delivering many services to improve quality of life of citizens. For example flood control & rain water monitoring on real time basis with sensors/cameras help in better preparedness & quick response to any calamity.
It is used for solid waste management.

It will facilitate ease in accessing various services related to Govt Housing, Office Spaces, Holiday Homes, Ceremonial Spaces/ Accommodations etc. including litigations.

The event will highlight the features of the new application, which has been developed on open platform. Happy to release “Delhi: Unified Building Bye Laws-2016"-a user friendly book along with its e-Versions (static & dynamic formats). It is in sync with Hon’ble PM’s vision of Ease of Doing Business which promotes use of technology in making tasks simple. It is a self contained, interesting to read & follow exposition of the legal document.

e-Version is quite simple, reader friendly & provides clarity with excellent text fonts & colours.

Quoting case studies from Sydney, New York, Moscow & other global cities, he advocated ‘people first’ approach to urban planning He has elaborated the transformation which has taken place in the last few decades in Copenhagen. Visited Yamuna river flood plains Restoration and Rejuvenation by @official_dda at Old Railway Bridge to ITO Barrage (Western Bank) Asita West & NH24 to DND Flyover (Western Bank) yesterday morning along with VC-DDA, Addl & Joint Secretaries, Prof CR Babu & other officers. ImageImage 200 Ha work has been taken up at Asita West. Of this, 93 Ha has already been developed. Balance work on 107 Ha is planned to be completed by June 2021. Floodplains are being restored and rejuvenated as per guidelines of Hon’ble NGT. ImageImage

Visited Neela Hauz along with VC @official_dda, Addl & Joint Secretaries, Dr CR Babu & other officers this morning. It is a natural lake (wetland) spreading over an area of 3.9 hectares. It was largely filled with malba during construction of Aruna Asaf Ali Bridge except for a small part filled with raw sewage coming from a drain originating from unauthorized colonies.

Overcoming the challenges posed by covid-19 pandemic, MahaMetro continued its work & other activities through last 5 months after 1st & 2nd lockdowns. It followed the SOP to ensure health & safety of the staff & workers at the sites. National Webinar "Swachhata Ke 6 Saal: Bemisaal" held yesterday on Bapu's 151st birth anniversary threw up a treasure-trove of learnings in sanitation & waste management from across India. We have focused/ need to focus on 3R: Reduce, Reuse & Recycle leading to less load on cities to process the waste & improve sustainability.

Chaired the meeting of Project Sanctioning & Monitoring Group (PSMG) of @ncrpb today. We sanctioned funding of 6 projects worth around ₹390 cr; out of which about ₹290 cr i.e. 75% will be funded at affordable rates by NCRPB. ImageImageImage Among these, 4 Projects relate to widening/strengthening of existing roads of Rewari district in Haryana costing around ₹150 cr; wherein over ₹110 cr will be funded.

A power system strengthening project costing over ₹30 cr in Alwar district of Rajasthan was sanctioned. ImageImage
