Bangalore needs a rapid lockdown-stop interstate& inter district movement Nonessential movement to be curbed for at least 15 days-allows the health system a breather by not adding to the overflowing pot.Allows BBMP to further identify resources staged unlock with defined cut offs
If influx/case load is > than (needed bed/14 days) = buffer - stop interstate influx allows regulation of incoming stream to a manageable extent Allows health care worker fatigue to not settle. BBMP DHO's are literally swamped having worked tirelessly for so many months.
RTPCR capacity should also be a trigger- if backlog occurs such that test reports cannot be delivered in a day- another sign to cut influx. O2 beds unallocatable - cut influx that in itself will decrease the never ending gift by Agaatha UT and other states
Hearing of people fleeing Bangalore to villages- that is worrisome f they spread to villages. In that case the YAN model of outskirt quarantine or village school quarantine may have to be implemented with village "voluntary sena"
Another disconcerting thing is infection of Health care workers. Can rapidly collapse health care systems. So called "rationalization of PPE" dosn't work when transmission is rapid- the chain is as strong as the weakest link
and hospitals forget its not just patients who can spread to HCW but HCW and ancillary staff can spread it between one another. When do HCW hesitate - when they feel the safety measures are not adequate because they cannot be fooled wrt safety issues
Dedicated hospitals to treat HCW's and their families would also help bolster confidence. 1 HCW incapacitated =100's of patients not getting care. HCW infected are hounded even by landlords, neighbours overlty and subtely etc making life a hell for some and then morale is lost
+ not=
I am still wondering why the hesitancy to reintroduce a lockdown here in Bangalore Trivandrum has reintroduced a lockdown - we should not bow toany lobby especially the pseudoeconomy lobby -saying e have to live with the virus is true provided people follow sane advice
Just two simple measures - mask wearing and personal distancing can abrogate the disease - just see how many people follow it So Samaa(placation) , Dhaana(economical incentives) Bedha (quarantine) have all been tried. Danda needs to be enforced now.
The seonc wave for Bangalore is rearing its ugly head- if not cut now it will become a Kalinga Sarpa or a Hydra with one head cut springing many- it needs to be burnt down to the ground
We had one of the best control measures for any city in the world and are frittering away our advantage . We should not lose patience till a vaccine comes -10 incubation periods is what we needed to control- 140 days from the first case in India - unfortunately we lost patience
