@RishiSunak said it's obviously the case that not everyone feels they would've been helped how they would've liked.

He added that we need to look forward.

.@angelaeagle asks @RishiSunak to respond to criticisms that the #SummerStatement was poorly targeted.

The Chancellor responds saying that to focus on specific sectors is "in practice very difficult" to implement.

.@FelicityBuchan asks whether the reduction in VAT will pass through to the consumer, or will some businesses treat it as an additional grant?

The Chancellor says whether the benefit flows to consumers or businesses, all of that is helpful for safeguarding jobs.

@FelicityBuchan asks the Chancellor about his thinking behind asking the Office for Tax Simplification to look at Capital Gains Tax.

The Chancellor said it's reasonably normal practice to ask the OTS to look at various taxes.

The Chancellor said that he sympathises with those who have missed out on support.

@alisonthewliss asks if the Chancellor will meet with the #ExcludedUK APPG.

The Chancellor said the Government is looking forward and not looking to introduce new support.

In relation to fiscal policy, the Chancellor said there are "tough choices ahead"

Asked by @hbaldwin if the Government will update it's EU exit scenario analyses, the Chancellor said that there are "no plans" to do so.

.@rushanaraali asks if the Chancellor has stopped listening to those who are being left out?

The Chancellor said it's not a question of not listening, it's a question of "a decision I took" to draw a line where I think it's reasonable.

#ExcludedUK

.@JulieMarson asks: are you comfortable with bailouts and equity investments - picking winners?

The Chancellor said that he isn't: the "bar for individual company support is very high".

.@MikeHillMP asks if @RishiSunak thinks it's acceptable to break manifesto commitments, such as the pensions triple lock?

@RishiSunak noted the anomaly of growth falling and then set to rise rapidly, & this will be appropriate for the Government to look at at the right time.

👀

.@SteveBakerHW asks: public finances are not on a sustainable trajectory, are they?

No, responded the Chancellor.

It's important that they're put on a sustainable footing in the medium term, @RishiSunak added.

In response to @SteveBakerHW, the Chancellor said that we can't tax our way to prosperity. But we also have demands on public services, so we can't look at one side of things without looking at the other.

And that's a wrap! Thanks to both of our witnesses for taking part today.
