Today marks the one year anniversary of Boris Johnson becoming prime minister of the UK

When Mr Johnson came to power, his first task was to get to grips with Brexit

He got a deal, but not before multiple failed votes in the Commons, an extension he'd rather "die in a ditch" than ask for, and, eventually, an election, to get it passed

When Boris Johnson became PM, the Tory majority was slim, and he needed Commons support to pass his plans

He needed two-thirds of the Commons’ support to call a general election, and it took four attempts to finally pass

The Conservatives secured an 80-strong majority, slightly more seats than Tony Blair held in 2005

In early 2020, the first few cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the UK

In March, Mr Johnson addressed the nation, calling on them to “stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives”

Mr Johnson tested positive for coronavirus, and was hospitalised by its effects, spending time in intensive care

But, after a few weeks recuperating at Chequers, he was back at Downing Street
