So much destroyed, so many massacred in 70 CE. So much still visible.
Stones from the great walls destroyed by Romans.
The "burnt house" in the Old City, just like it was when it was destroyed by Romans. Almost like Pompeii. Very personal, like arm of young woman.

So much was burned in 70 CE Jerusalem. A wonderful couple the Siebenbergs dug deep under their Old City home & found ash. "Sifting Project" to recover soil dumped from Temple Mt found ash.

Regarding ashes, until ~20 yrs a. large piles of ashes from Temple service were located north of Old City Damascus Gate. Confirmed by European labs to contain animal bones. Heaps were cleared for housing.
