16] Class- various reports state that BAME groups receive less of a median wage than non-BAME people, with Black African communities receiving some of the lowest median wage. Class and Welsh language is a huge thing that is quite taboo in Welsh society
16.1] Politics of race, class, sex and gender in what jobs do and don't offer continued professional development in supporting people to e.g. go to Welsh lang class. Wonder what that breakdown is of CPD and Welsh lang classes around race
16.2] Class- no Welsh lang primary schools in working class areas in non-Cymraeg speaking areas. Almost impossible for some families to spend £15.00 a week on a bus pass to take small children to school.
What to do about it
1] Hire Black researchers to work on this area
2] Better pipeline progression for BAME teachers in Welsh lang schools
3] Implementation of recommendations from the @theredcardwales report
4] Hire BAME researchers to work on this area
5] Curriculum overhaul
6] MA's and PhDs in universities across Wales 2retain talent in Wales/Welsh talent on topics relating to critical race theory
7] Creation and distribution of research + documentation on topics; Welsh lang, racism in Welsh schools etc
8] Campaign around self-definition+Welsh Lang
9] Overhaul of CiO programme across Wales including SWOT analysis and outcomes of KPI's, data on drop-outs, subsidies etc made public
10] Better regulation by e.g. ESTYN on diversity in schools
Probably more, to be honest, but it's eleven o'clock, and I'm a bit tired.
